What is the best soap for bubbles?
What an excellent question!! We always get asked ‘what is the best soap for bubbles’ or people will peer into our bubble solution bucket and ask ‘do you use fairy liquid?’. Ive always used Fairy Liquid however I decided to raid the supermarket shelves and do some testing of my own and found some surprises. We also share with you below x6 of our best bubble solution recipes.

The clear winner for big bubbles!
Fairy Liquid or Dawn by Procter & Gamble – see the note below for the exact bottles
Runners up:
ECOver – I loved the scent of Ecover and its a great environmental friendly alternative, however it did not yield the same results as Fairy (above) it still made bubbles but I would use Fairy Liquid or Dawn as my first choice.
Johnsons Baby Bath – Again I loved the smell and the performance was average however this soap made great bouncy bubbles. So if your after small bouncy bubbles this is the one for you.
All the other types of dish soap I tried and tests failed:
These are the brands I would not use again as they DID NOT WORK:
Morning Fresh
Fairy Liquid Platinum, Max, Lemon, Clean and Care, Apple Orchard, Pomegranate & Honeysuckle, Citrus Grove and Pink Jasmine.
Joy Ultra
Palmolive
Please only use Fairy Liquid or Dawn by Procter & Gamble (sold under other names in some countries). Ingredients change, so check your bottle says 15–30% anionic surfactants. See exactly which bottles to buy: Which washing-up liquid to use

Skipping the trial and error
Washing-up liquid on its own will give you good bubbles. What it will not give you is the giant, long-lasting kind you see at a show — that takes a polymer mixed in alongside the soap, which is what lets a bubble stretch instead of pop.
If you would rather skip the testing altogether, the Giant Bubble Powder (Professional) is the mix we use at our own shows, and the 5L Giant Bubble Solution Kit is the ready-made version if you just want to add water. For mixing from scratch, J-Lube powder is the polymer most giant bubble recipes are built around.
