Shop Window Art FAQs

Is the paint safe for windows?

Yes. We use professional, non-damaging, water-based acrylic paints. They won’t stain or damage your windows.

My windows get condensation — can they still be painted?

It depends on the level of condensation. If it’s only a small amount at the bottom of the window, I can usually paint above it. However, if condensation appears over a larger area, painting isn’t recommended, as moisture will cause the paint to run and no sealant can prevent this.

My windows are tinted – can they still be painted?

It depends — if the windows are tinted on the inside, unfortunately no. Removing the paint afterward would damage the tint.

Do you paint on the inside or the outside?

I paint on the inside of the window, the window must be easily accessible from the inside.

How long does the artwork last?

The artwork can last for as long as you leave it up on your windows.

Do you offer removal?

We can remove the artwork for you when you’re ready (this service is chargeable) before repainting it for the next season, or you can remove it yourself using a window scraper. See Removal Instructions.

How much does it cost?

I charge £100 per hour of painting time, this includes pre-design time and materials. Most windows usually cost between £200-300

Do you offer snow spraying?

You may have seen Tom Bakers ‘Snow Windows’ where snow spray is used to create festive scenes. I don’t offer snow spraying, so this isn’t a service I provide.

What areas do you cover?

I work and paint in Gloucestershire, Cheltenham, Stroud, Stonehouse, Bristol, Evesham, Worcestershire, Forect of Dean, Tetbury, Tewkesbury, Cirencester, Hereford and the Cotswolds. I can travel further upon request.

How to remove the window painting

I use artist acrylic paint and its very easy and non messy to removed using a simple metal window scraper blade.

Removing Paint From Your Window – Important Tips to Avoid Scratches

  • Always use a fresh blade. A dull or worn blade can easily scratch glass. When you purchase a scraper, get a pack of replacement blades and change them frequently.

  • Apply plenty of window cleaner. Spray a generous amount to fully soak and soften the paint before scraping. This reduces friction and helps the blade glide smoothly.

  • Work slowly and steadily. Keep the blade flat against the glass and avoid tilting or digging the edge into the window.

  • Don’t force it. Never press too hard or try to remove everything in one pass. If paint remains, re-spray with cleaner and go over it again gently.
