Fun Bubble Activities for Nursing Homes
We entertain in care homes with bubbles and we wanted to share with you our fun activities for the elderly in nursing homes. Our sensory bubble kits are ideal for the activity co-ordinator to use to provide their own soap bubble fun nursing home activity. They are also designed for the children and family members who visit their elderly relatives in nursing homes. As it can be sometimes be upsetting and unnerving visiting family and parents in care-homes especially when they have dementia, this is why we wanted to share our bubble kits and ideas so you have an activity to take to reconnect bonds even when relationships are changing.
Visiting a relative in a care home – need a nursing home activity?
It can be giant bubbles for outdoor visits or just a pot of smaller bubbles, it will give you something to do that is fun, engaging and will lift everyones spirits. And if you are taking children along with you this will be a perfect activity to bond and get all ages interacting and having fun. Our foam makers are also a great tool, some people with dementia will really enjoy blowing mountains of bubble foam.
If you want to take it a little further and provide some glowing sensory bubbles you can make a waterproof light to use with the bubbles to add sensory experience. All you need to do is submerse the lights in the bubble liquid so they are wet (dry surfaces pop bubbles!) then blow bubbles on top on the lights.
Playing catch the bubbles with light and a wet hand can be a mobility promoting and self esteem building activity. Nursing home activity.

Fan with essential oils to blow bubbles
Play and experiment with the different wands and ways you can make bubbles. You can use your mouth to blow bubbles via the bubble film created on the wands. You can also use hand/arm movements to create bubbles in the air. I recommend a portable fan to aid you blowing the bubbles. I recommend the type that you can add essential oil too, this adds to the sensory element and means you do not need to blow bubbles with your own puff.
