Tip 1: How to Stop Foamy Solution
Don’t fill big buckets with lots of bubble juice for kids to use. Instead, pour a small amount at a time. Kids will stir and play, making the liquid foamy and dirty. For workshops, I use shallow plant trays instead of deep buckets to avoid spills and wasted liquid. If your mixture gets too foamy, you can let it settle to reuse later or pour in fresh juice for better bubbles. Learn more about stopping foamy solution.
Tip 2: Check Your Guar Gum
Guar gum can stop working well if it’s expired. If your bubbles aren’t as good, the guar gum might be too old. I always get a fresh batch before spring to be ready for the outdoor season!
Why? Guar gum is plant-based and has a short shelf life. However J-lube is longer-lasting because it’s synthetic and doesn’t expire.

Why do we use J-Lube and Guar Gum in the giant bubble recipe?
They are polymers which give elasticity and give the bubbles self-healing properties.
How to store your large bubble mixture?
You can store premade solution up to 1-2 weeks. Store in an air tight container, free of contaminants and dirt. Store out of direct sunlight, at room temperature and out of reach from children and pets.
What if the bubble juice freezes overnight?
We’ve all done it and left the juice in the car overnight and its froze. Don’t panic once its warmed up to room temperature it will work just fine!
Do I have to use fairy liquid?
If you want guaranteed results then yes. If you are in the USA or other parts of the world you can use the Fairy equivalent brand which is Dawn. When tested with other brands the quality does decrease and for some like morning fresh it does not work.
How to discard of your old bubble mix?
Do not throw out on the grass/plant life or in ponds/lakes as this will damage the grass/plants and aquatic life. Do dilute and pour down the sink or drain. Or to discard of in an environmentally friendly way you can pour old juice onto concrete and let the suns UV light break it down.
How Long Does The Bubble Liquid Last?
The bubble juice lasts about a week if you keep it cool/room temp. If it is kept too warm or in the sun it can go off in 2 or 3 days. Either way, it is best to make fresh juice when you are doing a job. We usually make ours up 24-48 hours before a job. You can use up older juice in a bubble machine or in a bucket for children to make their own bubbles (if it still works). If I have left over juice that hasn’t gone off I will take it with me in separate bucket for my net wands.
How to clean up bubble solution?
Cleaning solution soiled areas and other items: Use plenty or water to dilute outside areas and wash away the bubble solution. If a blanket or other such objects have become soiled with solution, then clean by hand and dilute with lots of water.
DO NOT MACHINE WASH soiled items and materials, as this will cause potential damage to your washing machine from overloading and potential leak damage caused by foam.
Do you make any variations to the recipe to adjust to humidity levels?
Yes, if sunny and hot add more water!

Electric Whisk for Large Batches
If you are making up a larger quantity for a event I would recommend you getting a electric whisk, makes the job much easier and it will mean your guar gum, lube and glycerin mix really gets a good mixing. I always use my electric whisk now it makes for better bubbles!
You can easily multiply the recipe to produce a larger amount of bubble liquid, depending on your needs.
