Giant Bubble Solution Shelf Life & Storage Tips
If you’re making your own giant bubble liquid or bubble solution for kids, you can usually store it for a few days, and up to two weeks, if the solution is clean, unused, and made or stored using clean equipment. However, once water is added, degradation starts—unless you’re using preservatives.
Be mindful: water-based bubble solutions can begin to grow bacteria, especially if left too long. For safety and performance, it’s not recommended to store bubble liquid for extended periods.

Which Liquids Last the Longest?
Bubble liquids made with food-based polymers like Guar Gum and J-Lube tend to spoil more quickly—they can become smelly, less effective, and prone to quicker bacterial growth. In contrast, liquids made with synthetic-based polymers, such as those in our Powder Pro and Uncle Bubble, have a significantly longer shelf life. These can be prepared further in advance, reused later, and result in much less waste overall.
However, we do advise caution: even with longer-lasting formulas, it’s important to consider the potential for bacterial growth over time. Many variables—such as storage conditions and usage—affect how long a liquid remains safe and effective, so we cannot guarantee a precise time frame for any mixture.
Storage conditions can make or break your bubbles:

Avoid direct sunlight – UV rays will start to break down ingredients like Fairy Liquid and reduce bubble performance.

Keep at a stable temperature – Too warm, and the liquid will spoil faster. Too cold (like being left in a car overnight), and the bubble mix might temporarily stop working—though it should be usable again once returned to room temperature.
Best Practice for Giant Bubble Mix
💡 My advice: Always make your giant bubble mix fresh before each bubble play session. If you’re using our bubble powder kits, prepare the mix around 24 hours in advance. This ensures your bubble solution creates strong, long-lasting bubbles—and eliminates any risk of bacterial growth.

My Bubble Solution Isn’t Working – Troubleshooting
Hi, thank you for this great info. I want to know what to do with the bubble liquid when you dispose of it? Do I put down drain? Or on the ground somewhere it might not hurt plants?
Yes, pour it down your sink or an outside drain. If you have a large concrete area you can throw it out on that and let the sun light disintrigrate the soap. But for me in the UK we don’t get much sun so best to put it down the drain, like we do with our washing up water including Fairy Liquid.
